Once upon time there was a young chalet girl who worked a ski season. She was the party queen of Courcheval 1850 circa 1990, nicknamed ‘Queenie’. She held the record for slamming the most tequila slammers in a row. She was an ‘Aprés Animal’.
But 25 years later the Aprés Animal has hung up her party shoes. Incarcerated by marriage and children, her hedonistic pursuits of youth are now but memories of a past gone by. Instead, she has become one of the Unstoppables. Well sort of, as I haven’t managed to take the kids skiing yet and we are all desperate to go and get some snow action. We love adventures!
This spring we toured around Scotland in a camper van. We made a pitstop in Aviemore.
But we had to resort to hill rolling and ski-less skiing, as our itinerary was tight covering 1700 miles in 7 days. Ski-less skiing I tell you is not a patch on the real thing. Hagar, of Scottish descent, learned to ski on the rugged hills of Scotland and has skied most of Europe, and across the pond at Heavenly and Jackson Hole. He’s a keen skier and would love to ski with his kids for the first time ever! It’s definitely on our bucket list.
My kids are snow angels.
The Menace is an avid watcher of the film Chalet Girl on Netflix and asks me constantly ‘when are we going skiing?’
And my boy just can’t get enough of the white stuff. But they have only had snap shots of snow in the UK and they would love some mountain adventures. We are travel addicts. We are explorers; on our own doorstep and around the world.
But when we are on tour, it’s non stop fun and adventure.
1.) Morning! And we are on the road! Destination Edinburgh!
2.) Hanging out with natives. They are horny and furry!
3.) The castle is breathtaking!
4.) But our view might be distorted.
4.) Compulsory photo with a lone piper.
5.) Honey I shrunk the kids at The Camera Obscura
6.) I was cross. “Off with his head!”
7.) Let them eat cake!
8.) Down the Royal Mile destination Leith to catch up with old friends
9.) And have pigs cheeks and sticky toffee pudding for tea
10.) One last look at the majestic city
11.) It’s goodbye from him, and it’s goodbye from me
12.) Back on the road we go
