MORPHY RICHARDS COMFI ECOGRIP IRON REVIEW – By Princess Sparkle
The only household task I actually enjoy is ironing, ok I am lying, but this iron does make it bearable! However, give me a pile of creased up clothes to ‘straighten out’ any day over mopping the floor or vacuuming the stairs, so I was more than happy to put the Morphy Richards Comfi Ecogrip to the test.
The iron looks amazing and has a great ‘chunky’ feel to it, the cable is perfect as it is nice and long (3 metres in fact!) so for once I didn’t need my extension lead. The iron sits sturdily on the board due to the very well designed flexible ball joint of the cable, where other irons tend to over balance sometimes! The water fill nozzle is really large making it extremely easy to fill and greatly reducing the risk of spilling the water everywhere. In addition, the tank is nice and large so I only had to fill it twice during the hour and a half session!
The soft grip handle was indeed ’comfi’ as the name suggests, and it is quite wide which adds to the comfort. The steam button is slightly awkward to get your thumb to due to the size of the handle, tricky for short thumbed people, but no problem for the average Iron user!
The water spray gives a really nice mist rather than a heavy duty spray, and the steam is very, very powerful making tough creases extremely easy to sort out and, importantly, it doesn’t leave your clothes covered with wet patches like so many other irons but leaves them nice and smooth with very little effort. The iron is quite heavy to hold but it glides so smoothly over clothes and creases so I guess it’s weight is what lends itself to how well it irons.
Overall, an amazing ironing experience, simple, easy and smooth with some outstanding features that make it so much better than any other iron I have ever used – and worth every penny!
Notes from Morphy Richards:
The interesting point about Comfigrip is that many of its features were designed based on feedback from customers. For example the large water fill hole, the sturdy base, extra long power cord and auto shut off.
