Getting enough sleep on a daily occurrence is extremely important for your overall health. It’s important for your mental well-being, your stress levels and how happy you feel on a daily basis. If you don’t manage to get the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep on a daily occurrence, you’ll find yourself feeling sluggish, tired and at risk of getting ill more often.

When it comes to improving your sleep, there are a number of ways in which you can do so. You could go down the route of CBDistillery. Alternatively, you could reduce your screen time before bed, eat a more healthy diet, increase the amount of exercise you do daily or work on a sleep routine, your mattress quality and more.

To help you with getting a better night’s sleep, below are our top tips.

Reduce your screen time before bed

Before you get tucked up in bed, do you spend a lot of time on a screen like your mobile phone or tv? If yes, you are not alone, a lot of people do. This however can be detrimental to your sleep quality. Using a screen before bed can keep your mind active and stimulate your brain, making it hard for you to doze off. Try to spend 30 minutes or so off your phone or tv before bed to try and give your mind a rest. If you feel a big urge to go on your phone, using the low-level light mode can help reduce the effects of a screen before bed.

Improve your diet

Have you been paying attention to your diet recently? Your diet can have a big impact on how long you sleep and the quality of sleep you get. Healthy foods help relax your brain and promote good sleep. Unhealthy foods do the opposite and can cause you to sleep badly – especially as a lot of unhealthy foods are full of sugar. Download a food tracking app and keep track of what you are eating on a daily basis. By using an app, you can start to dive more into the types of foods you are eating and calculate any nutrients or vitamins that you may be low in. It could be that you think you are eating a healthy diet when in actual fact you are not.

Keep to a sleep routine

Whether you are a baby, teenager or adult, a sleep routine is very important. Having a routine helps prepare your body for sleep and for your body to know when you are roughly going to be going to sleep. When the hours before you are going to go to bed creep up, your body naturally knows to start to wind down, helping you fall asleep. The more your sleep pattern varies, the harder you will find to have a good night’s sleep.
